Reflection on Social Media Case 7: Anthony Weiner’s Post

Anthony Weiner should have never denied the pictures that were obviously him in the first place. Because after denying, one thing eventually leads to another and now where is he? Sitting in prison. https://www.cnn.com/2017/09/25/politics/anthony-weiner-sentencing/index.html  Lying about things is one of my biggest pet peeves, because your lies always catch up to you in the end.
This is a perfect example of how powerful social media is and how careful you need to be because any slip up and it could cost you. Anything you post is fair game for the world to see, and if you are high up and representing our country like Anthony Weiner was, then the spotlight is always going to be on you and you are always going to be watched by people. It amazes me the amount of risks Weiner took by sexting these women, with his career and his family on the line it shows extremely poor judgment. These are certainly not things you want from someone in public office.
Anthony Weiner made some huge mistakes and he is paying for them in prison. This is a story of someone who had everything in the world going right for him and let it all slip with his actions on social media. It is certainly something that is sad, and its something that Weiner will have to deal with for the rest of his life, his ex wife and son will have to deal with his poor decisions for just as long. Nobody can say he didn’t have enough warnings to change his actions and stop doing the things he was doing. He is totally responsible for his actions. Social media is a powerful tool, we can either use it for the right thing or the wrong thing, that choice is up to us! Choose wisely.

  2. Good post! I agree that lying is a stupid thing to do because it always catches up to you. Anthony Weiner definitely made tons of mistakes by lying on social media about such big things.

  6. I love that you talk about having him take the responsibility. I think people are usually quick to play the victim, even if are the the one who did it.
