Reflection on Social Media Case 11: OK Go Gravity Song

I am someone who watches YouTube a lot because there is such a wide variety of things you can choose from. There has been many times where I have wanted to watch a video from YouTube but I was not able to due to a copy right claim, such as the one on S7 airlines YouTube account for the OK Go music video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6fyWs8KSdE I have always wondered why these copyright claims go on and now after reading about this incident I now know. Facebook video is fairly new and many people do not know about it, I first found out about it when a show called tom vs time was produced. It was a documentary series of about 6 episodes into the personal life of NFL quarterback Tom Brady. The episodes were relatively short but they were very well done. Once I was done watching the episodes of tom vs time, I didn’t just abandon Facebook watch, I went back and continued to view other things on there and I now use it more than you tube, which is crazy to me considering how much I used to use YouTube back in the day. I predict Facebook watch will take over you tube within the next few years considering Facebook has roughly 2 billion users compared to YouTube’s 1 billion. Ok go just wanted to release their video to a different kind of audience when they were going to release their new music video, obviously there was a miscommunication between them and the airline company. Why not release your video on all platforms for as much exposure as possible? I think that is what Ok Go was trying to do all along. Facebook watch is changing the game when it comes to online video and I think Ok go wanted to be apart of that.
